Fix for config not saving properly.

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

This finally managed to piss me off enough to fix it. so here's what to do.

Go to:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\players\YourName\
Rename

Code: Select all

config_mp.cfg
to

Code: Select all

config_mp.cfg.bak
(this will act as a backup in case of something breaking)

Code: Select all

Start CoD2.

Code: Select all

Set your controls.

Code: Select all

Exit and reopen Cod.

Code: Select all

Set your graphics settings
(i go down as far as antialiasing, apply, then do the rest)

Code: Select all

Set any other settings

Code: Select all

Exit CoD.
Go to:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\players\YourName\
Rename

Code: Select all

config_mp.cfg
to

Code: Select all

config_good.cfg
(this will act as a backup of your good new config in case of something breaking)

Now you should have CoD2 working as it should, all settings correct and with a backup of your new config just in case something breaks.

Yes, i know it's a bit of an OTT method, but it'll work, and shouldn't break stuff. ever. :)

And this -Should- fix your name and graphics settings so they don't Majikly disappear after each game?

I hope so, cause it's really pissing me off too.

yes. it should.

it worked for me (the various restartings make sure it saves settings a bit at a time, so it doesn't fuck up too hard)
