Spicing up CSS night

Spicing up CSS night
Wednesday night CSS is pretty unpopular these days, I think it's mainly because most of the regulars (including me) now prefer a bit of beef instead. Any thoughts on making it more inviting again?
Custom maps, glass, surf, etc?
Turning it into a Source night instead with CTF, Hidden, DM, etc?
Or Day of Defeat? A great game IMO
Any other ideas?
This is all assuming that Berk has the time and inclination to setup this stuff or we could play on public servers, depending on the game and how many people are needed.

Not specifically CS related but I had thought about a Power Gaming night/day for the most popular 5punk games
Where we play an hour of a game then move on to the next one, would be pretty good fun on a Saturday afternoon to get loads of people playing, if you're not a massive fan of a game then at least it won't go on for long and people who don't have all the games could drop in and out, something like:
HL2 DM
CS:S
COD 2
UT 2004
BEEF
COD UO

I like this idea, I tend to get shell shocked when playing a fast paced, DM type game for more than an hour.mrbobbins wrote:Not specifically CS related but I had thought about a Power Gaming night/day for the most popular 5punk games

I think a lot of the nights are suffering because people are obviously bored of the playing the same games all the time, as their are no new FPS games (other than COD2 which was a wet letuce) keeping peoples interest.
As great as Bukkake is, I think the occasional game on a random server, but using TS together can produce hilarious/fun results as we found in COD:UO, so maybe we should all jump on more random servers for a bti to spice things up.
Gaming night sounds good, but I couldn't personally commit to it, as my gaming time is pretty limited as it is, but it sounds good none the less.
Maybe someone should start this in a new thread in general for "Gaming Night Suggestions" so as this thread doesn't go off on a tangent (because that neevr happens on 5punk)

This sounds like a great idea. My Saturday's usually suck, so I'd be sure to join in.mrbobbins wrote:Not specifically CS related but I had thought about a Power Gaming night/day for the most popular 5punk games

This makes sense, especially when there's 4 or less people who turn up.Woo Elephant Yeah wrote:As great as Bukkake is, I think the occasional game on a random server, but using TS together can produce hilarious/fun results as we found in COD:UO, so maybe we should all jump on more random servers for a bti to spice things up.

4 people on a single server is crap unless it is deathmatch css
Two possible flaws for this (for me anyway).mrbobbins wrote:Not specifically CS related but I had thought about a Power Gaming night/day for the most popular 5punk games

1. It may be hard for some to get ready setting up some games, updating and all that, especially if its more than one game. Often if I do decide to jump in on CSS night, I find there's been 3 updates since, which involves a restart most of the time, and I'm like "Ewww maybe not". with lots of games this will put me off, oh also, I don't have CODs and seem to have misplaced my UT2k4.
2. I can't do saturdays. Prehaps, we do two gaming nights?

I've (apparently) played it for 22 hours, but it has been a while. It would need more than the two initial maps to be much fun though.Bob47 wrote:i think it would only work for a few weeks than nothingCraig wrote:I reckon that HL: DM would catch on for a few weeks
