The Basics
Eve-Online is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game set in the future. In this possible future, mankind and it'd greed have colonized the known universe, fueled by the ambitions of Mega-corps that war with each other over profits and resources. It looked like a dark time for mankind, with civilization pushed to the far reaches of known space, when a natural wormhole was found to another Galaxy. Brave explorers ventured forth, and began colonizing the new worlds, when suddenly the wormhole closed. Nobody could find a way back, and millions died without a link to the other galaxy. Over time, some did regain the capability to fly in space, and 4 main races arose. The Gallente, Caldari, Minmitar, and Amarr each have different social/economic/military views, and have skirmishes, despite the Concorde governing presence that maintains order within the 'Empire' systems with police patrols. Outside of the Empire, lawlessness presumes, as it is outside the reach of Concorde's forces.

Players earn ISK (Inter-Stellar-Kredits) for a myriad of things. Mining, going on Missions for agents of a faction, building and selling items from minerals mined from asteroids (most of the items in the game are built by it's players), buying things at one station at a low price, and hauling them to a station with a better price for sale, shooting NPC's that have bounties placed on them, freezing player ships in space and demanding a ransom or threaten to blow them up (also called piracy, which can only be done away from the watchful eyes of Concorde), or just for making instas, something that costs a player nothing, but can vastly speed up a player's movements through Eve.

The Juicy Bits
Players play in a world that they can affect. Players can build space stations at moons to harvest minerals off the moons, they can form a ship-building alliance, or they can band together to destroy the work of others.

The Economy is market driven. If you want something bad enough, a large amount of isk can get it for you. If you undercut your competition, you may establish a new standard price for something within a region.

Your character's actions determine what he/she can do, and where they can go. If you upset the police too much, they'll shoot you on sight. If you upset players too much, they'll place bounties on your head and everyone will try to get you. If you work hard and don't shoot indiscriminately at others, you'll develop a positive security status, and others will trust you.

The Crusty Bits
There is an hour of DownTime each day while they update the cluster of servers. Eve is one virtual world in our Real World, and is played on by Hundreds of Thousands of players.

It cost a monthly subscription to play, although they have a 14-day trial available, and annual payments for a discount.

It takes time to learn the skills to do larger things within the game. But it wouldn't be much fun if everyone could fly Titan's on their first day!

Conclusion
Jump in a Velator, run through the tutorial, and look up a corp in the recruiting channel. ASK QUESTIONS, as other players experience is invaluable in the rich world of Eve.

The Basics
Call of Duty (or CoD as we prefer) is traditionally played on a Tuesday evening and comes in three flavours:

Call of Duty,
Call of Duty: United Offensive (basically an expansion to the original CoD), and
Call of Duty 2 (the sequel)

Of the three CoD: UO is by far the most popular. Not because it has the best graphics, the best gameplay or an amazing physics engine (in fact, physics generally doesn't exist in CoD and if you read carefully you will find this noted in Einstein's Theory of General Relativity), but just because it is enormous fun to run around shooting people whilst talking complete and utter gibberish over TeamSpeak.

Call of Duty 2 is the newer shinier version of CoD, it features an excellent single player campaign and a multiplayer game very similar to the original Call of Duty. The differences between Call of Duty 2 and United Offensive are the reasons why it is not as popular. In Call of Duty 2 you cannot run, in Call of Duty 2 you cannot cook grenades (Cooking grenades is pulling the pin before throwing in order to shorten the time before detonation enabling you to time the throw so that your target has no time to escape), in Call of Duty 2 you do not gain ranks (In United Offensive the ranking system gives more grenades, the addition of satchel charges and artillery strikes based upon your score), in Call of Duty 2 you cannot drive vehicles (Popular in United Offensive but not often played at 5punk due to the large numbers of players required to make vehicle maps effective, although nothing beats hurtling around in a jeep like a madman beeping your horn!). That is not to say that Call of Duty 2 is not an enjoyable game, it has some excellent new maps and the addition of the popular Shotgun or Trenchgun as it is called in game. We have tried out several game Mods with our Call of Duty 2 server to add the facility to run and cook grenades (and have gay pink smoke) but it hasn't quite managed to replace the glorious United Offensive in the hearts of 5punkers, even the addition of flying bath and piano artillary as Team Kill punishments hasn't managed to overthrow UO!!.

The Juicy Bits
CoD probably epitomizes the 5punk ethos more than any other game - it's not about how many points you get, it's about having fun. In fact you will notice that no description has been given of the game itself so far - that's because in all honesty, it doesn't matter.

Although games such as CS:S and BEEF are more popular, the TeamSpeak conversations during CoD have probably given rise to more hilarity, 5punk in-jokes and general surrealism than any other games put together. It is of course impossible to recreate the atmosphere of a CoD night TeamSpeak session, but below are a few of the things you might want to listen out for if you decide to join in.

CoD Lingo
AIDS Cannon
You won't have to listen too hard for this one. The AIDS Cannon features on the custom map 'Quarantine' and is effectively a mounted anti-tank gun that kills without making a sound! The animation whilst firing also looks amusingly like the player is having a wank. Although the gun itself is silent, it's presence is generally greeted with the singing of either (or sometimes at the same time) of the two songs below...

AIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDSAIDS etc

AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDS CANNON!

Baths
These are sources of great power in CoD, and must be protected at all costs. The bigger the bath, the better. Regardless of scores on a map, whoever is deemed to have held on to a bath for the longest amount of time is the winner.

Teabagging
The art of placing one's testicles upon the cold, dead eyes of a recently defeated foe. If there is no foe readily available, certain other objects will suffice - a radio, a dead cow, a piano...

Treebagging
The art of placings one's testicles in a tree. This is best performed as a group activity.

Death 'Nade
The art of releasing a cooked grenade just as you are killed. Anyone teabagging your corpse at that moment will find their testicles rapidly detached and hurled through the air (into a tree if they are really lucky).

Ninja roof climbing
Climbing on roofs! Like a ninja!

Railings
Found on a map that begins with 'M'. Whoever thought that iron railings could offer invulnerability?

That map with the railings that begins with 'M'
The Basics
Best of all the animals. Well, FPS games. Counterstrike is a very popular online first-person-shooter, back in the days of the original Half-Life it was pretty much the biggest online game ever. Now, the new version that was released with Half-Life 2 is called Counterstrike: Source, or CSS or CS:S for short.

Source, or 'Sauce' is 5punk's wednesday game. It has pretty much outright replaced the older version, Counterstrike 1.6 which ran on the original Half-Life engine.

It has good graphics, and reasonably fast paced, round-based gameplay. It's realistic for an online game, compared to Quake or Unreal Tournament for example.
It's is really quite good. If you haven't got it, it's well worth getting along with Half-Life 2. It uses the Valve Steam distribution system, which when working, makes updates etc. very easy. However it also means that playing the game offline is tricky, and playing an unlicensed copy of it online is nigh impossible.

A mod featured of late is the Zombie Mod where players avoid an enemy zombie under the threat of being made part of their undead army. When enough players are turned into zombies, and there are some hold-outs in very hard to reach places, zombies will stack and create Zombie Towers to reach the enenmy. Good, frantic fun.

The Basics
Battlefield 2 (BEEF) got a warm but not stunning reception at 5punk to begin with, however over the last year or so, we've been getting more and more players playing regularly and have actually managed somehow to get pretty good at the game, even showing some signs of organization and skill, both of which are usually unheard of on 5punk.

This popularity made it possible for us to split the cost of a Ranked Server for 5punk so we could have a server run to the usual 5punk standards.

The Juicy Bits
BEEF is in many ways the polar opposite of Call of Duty as Beef is a game that requires communication, tactics and teamwork, all of which usually go against the 5punk way of doing things.

Many 5punkers have come to love the game, not least in part due to the teamwork and attitude of 5punkers.

The Crusty Bits
The Beef 1.3 server is prone to crashing, often making people lose over 100 points.

Beef also has an unrivaled ability to really, really piss people off which we call Beef Rage it is thought Beef Rage comes from a chemical reaction caused when two spawn-raping fuckmonkeys meet one rocket whoring Faggot
