Ah well, hopefully it'll be worth it.

1.8g for a demo? Brink back the Amiga Power coverdisks with half a dozen demos on please.

Those were the days.

It's understandable though really, most of the core game code and assets are getting fairly large, plus I bet there's a prerendered movie in there for a few hundred meg.

I've noticed a trend for most demo's to pretty much be the beta .9 version just with the levels stripped out from the full game, which is a shame as it probably means you could trip another 25% of space up by cutting unused assets, it used to be fun when they were mini stories themselves like Valve's Uplink hl1 demo.

Well, it's definately F.E.A.R.. They seem to throw every aspect of the orginal game into the demo, so either it's going over all the basics early as it has some new things to throw at you, or it's really fucking short/ repetitive.

:above:

It started off reasonably promising and very FEAR. Then it gives you all the weapons and loses the point of a spooky FPS. I'd imagine the final game would be a lot more stretched out but it's still just more of the same.

Everything I've seen/read about it so far has been that it's F.E.A.R., but not as repetitive. Hopefully that's pretty close to truth.

Do magazines bother with cover CDs any more, or do they just assume everyone has fast internets?

I guess they'd have to be cover Blurays or something to fit much of anything on anymore.

They still have DVDs, but none have been in my drive for about 6 months, and even then it's usually for drivers or patches.

I liked that.

Two things stand out, Alma is around a lot more and is pissed, not really surprising on both counts, and the bit at the when you're leaving the cinema was awesome, might have had a little panic :)

Secondly, fucking mech suit! :excited:

Judging by the video at the end there's at least 3 or 4 more weapons, so that's nice.

I reckon it's going to be quite good, and Monolith generally put out alright games, with the good and excellent surfacing occasionally.
