Red Dwarf
From the typing fingers for Mr. Robert Llewellyn himself.

It's been in the pipeline for a while, the gang met up to look over scripts and talk with the writers. Bobbyllew seems happy with it and always leaves rather excited tweets after he gets back from a meeting.
Thoughts, opinions?

Start with series one. It looks tacky and cheap, but the humour is brilliant. It's basically about the last human being (a lazy scouser), adrift in space with a senile computer, a hologram of his dead workmate (or possibly nemesis), and a humanoid descendant of his cat. Later they're joined by a neurotic android.
It's a very British comedy, full of sarcasm, irony, and one liners. I'd compare it to stuff like Porridge and Dad's Army, but more modern (and in space).

Is fab about?
If you're in trouble, he will save the day
He's brave and he's fearless, come what may
Without him, the mission would go astray
He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer
Without him, life would be much grimmer
He's handsome, trim, and no one's slimmer
He will never need a Zimmer
He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer
More reliable than a garden Strimmer
He's never been mistaken for Yul Brynner
He's not bald and his head doesn't glimmer
Master of the wit and the repartee
His command of space directives is uncanny
How come he's such a genius? Don't ask me
Ask Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer
He's also a fantastic swimmer
And if you play your cards right, then he just might come round for dinner
He's Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer
No rhymes left now apart from quimmer
He'd better fade us out before we get to schlimmer
Fade out you stupid plimmer
If you're in trouble, he will save the day
He's brave and he's fearless, come what may

It's cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere,
I'm all alone, more or less.
Let me fly far away from here,
Fun, fun fun, In the sun, sun, sun.
Fun, fun fun, In the sun, sun, sun.
I want to lie, shipwrecked and comatose,
Drinking fresh mango juice,
Goldfish shoals, nibbling at my toes.
Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun,
Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun.

According to my bookshelf there are 4 books:
Red Dwarf and Better Than Life (both written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor)
Last Human (written just by Doug Naylor)
Backwards (written just by Rob Grant)
Last Human and Backwards don't tie in with each other and even have disassociative (is that a word?) story lines, so the order in which they're read doesn't matter. I personally preferred Backwards.
