Bart will be up at the
crack of dawn for his early morning prayer and to make sure all his gear is nice and clean and ready to bash evil with.
After his tasty bowl of milky oats, its temple time!
How does bashing down re-enforced doors work in D&D? Cos that's what im going to do!

You can either smash it in with your mighty mace, or try a strength-check to break it open.
Doors have a HP and a hardness. The hardness is deducted from the damage you do.
Only, I'm not going to tell you what the hardness or the HP is, only that it's a big ol' barred wooden door!

Hold your horses there gaffer. Let me have a look first. I'll have a scout round the building, looking for traps, secret entrances, anything else interesting. I'll be searching in 3D too - I can climb up and have a look at windows further up if I think there's an easier/safer way in that way.

The only entrances to the church you can see are the door, which has been barred shut from the outside, and a two stained-glass windows on the east side of the building that have been smashed in, all the lead holding the panes together has been mangled and pushed apart.
The holy symbol of Pholtus is still above the door.
Trapfinding just allows you to find difficult traps (DC of >20) as a rogue.
You'll be rolling Search, and yours is 3, so that's a mighty roll of 8!
You don't see any traps.

I presume the symbol of Pholtus is on the outside, and out of reach? If its in reach, im going to give it a bop with the hitting stick, for the Glory of St Cuthbert!

If Bart can't knock it down with his mace I can offer him up a grappling hook on a rope, or try to shimmy up there myself. I'll leave the latter option until last though, I don't trust holy symbols. Gods get pissed off when you start dicking about with them.

As a medium creature, Bart has a reach of about 8ft, the symbol is about 10ft up. You can make a jump check to see if you can hop up and smash your mace against it, if you want, but you'll take massive penalties for being <b>the heaviest man on earth</b>.
(D20+ Jump + Str mod - Armour penalty)
If you want to toss your hook up, you'll need a use-rope check, and a climb-check to then get up there.

I'll pre-empt Joose and try to hook the thing. The heaviest man on earth can then swing on it a bit and see if it comes down.

Yeah, you chuck your hook up into the lip of the small bell-tower and give it a tug, it seems sturdy enough to climb on if needed - the symbol is only a few feet away after all.

Ah, misread it. Nope, that won't work. It's round and the hook skids off to one side when you try to do that.

Nicely!
You dart up the wall with all the grace your half-elf body can muster and hang from the bell-tower. Now you're up close you can see that the symbol is made of wood with inlaid bands of metal forming the crescent moon, and a metal ring about its outside forming the full moon. It looks a bit worn and messy, some of the wood is already starting to rot.
Removing it? Bashing it in? Admiring it from afar with a whimsical gaze?

As much as Bart would probably want to bash it, I'm still a bit wary of holy symbols. However, we can't leave it here if we want to take the temple over. Does it look to be attached? I'll try to remove it without damaging it.

Yeah, with a little tug the loose mortar crumbles around the outermost ring, and it pops off.
A horrendous black spider the size of your head peers out of the hole you've magically uncovered and bares its dripping fangs!

The spider's darts towards Forenrond's hand and pokes both fangs into the meat of his thumb in a clean bite.
It gives a wriggle before scuttling back through the hole you've uncovered into the church, hoping the venom he'd just shot was effective.
