indeed, it's not needed now. but it's a fucking suggestion, for the future, given that the future isn't now.
and the reason i suggested it, for the future, is that i've seen probably 4-5 people sign up in the last 2 weeks, and not post, but be pretty active in the arcade, indicating a possible problem, in the future, with it happening more often, in future, with people signing up, in future, just to use the arcade in future and not contribute anything to the site in the future.
now, if you can't quite manage to fucking understand that
remember, your average arcade whore being a workshy pleb of some kind.
it's quite possible said workshy pleb will tell its coworkers of the arcade, and result in more of them happening.
IN THE FUCKING FUTURE.

just to recap on the posts so far:
berk)we should do this
me)maybe, when it becomes a problem (ie, in the "fucking future")
berk)i meant in the future.
me)yes, maybe, in the future.
berk)IN THE FUCKING FUTURE
me)eh?
Berks top tip for winning people over to your side of the argument: Talk down to them and try and piss them off. Works like a charm.now, if you can't quite manage to fucking understand that
...
IN THE FUCKING FUTURE.
And now the fun part: putting the toys back into the pram:

Yes, I like the idea of more tournaments.Hehulk wrote:More tournaments? I know I went out in the first round, but I really enjoyed the C&C tournement. more so because I can look back and just cringe as I make stupid mistake after stupid mistake
And we do need think of ways to get some arcade members more involved, even if it's only with other arcade users- 5punk is meant to be a community thing after all, and as far as I am aware the arcade is usually populated by individuals. Maybe we could organise an arcade tournament? Get them communicating and competeing on a more personal level?
I like the idea of tournaments too. Maybe do a competion in pairs for FPS games or something (possibly mentioned already, can't be bothered to look back).
As for competing on a personal level, I think luckyjim12 took it personally when I overtook him for most high scores - took him a couple of days to steal a load of them back

Right then, lets clear things up.
Bandwidth is never going to be an issue anymore, not since changing over to Dreamhost. It used to be a really big issue, but it doesn't worry me in the slightest anymore.
I set up the Arcade in order to attract new members and keep existing members happy. By having something like an Arcade on this forum, it makes people come back more often during the day (helping the site stay more active).
I never realised so many people would register and solely use the Arcade, but to be honest, they don't bother me that much, infact I think they are a good thing for 5punk.
You look at 5punk's forum, and you see that atleast 40 members have logged in the last 24hrs, and it makes you realise that we are not just a shitty phpbb forum with an arsehole as an admin making pointless shitty posts and feeling self important.
I don't like the idea of charging users to play in the Arcade, however I can see where Berk was going with his suggestion, and it's good food for thought.
Once the new release of the Arcade mod is finally released, you can setup tournaments on games, and posts on the main Arcade page, so as we could have our own little arcade community going as well.
A lot of time and effort went into finding all the games in the Arcade, and I am currently in the process of sharing all my Arcade games with another site in exchange for theirs.
The problem for me is that it's hard to put an "Arcade forum" on the main site, as there is no other obvious way of new people finding the Arcade.
This is why I am redesigning the top part of 5punk's forum, to make things blindingly obvious, as opposed to the little grey bar which I have never particularly liked that much narf.
I would like to see more Strategy based tournaments within 5punk, and even FPS ones if it's at all possible, however I expect this is harder to do.
What I think needs to be done more than anything, is you guys getting more outside interest in 5punk yourselves. It's impossible for me to go on the b3ta boards and spam the board, without getting a severe backlash for doing so.
I'm sure some of you must have other friends who are into online gaming but have not yet seen 5punk?
I haven't spammed beta for a while now, but I have probably introduced nearly half of you by doing so, so if other people could try to do this once in a blue moon, it might help.
Also, there are other ideas in the pipeline for 5punk, but I just dont have the time to action them at the moment. Bloody real work
Thanks to all of you for your suggestions so far, keep them and your comments coming in, they really are apreciated.
