Sorry! Ugh. Busy busy.

Thor and Forenrond spot blood dripping from between the planks of the platform above, staining the loose hay and straw below. Neither seem to be aware of an invisible creature any longer.

Where's Camilla, bits?

If I can get the guard out of the way I'll sling my bow and scurry up the ladder.

oh yeah forgot to mention i have Camilla and Wincerslash following me around

Could they both use their scent racial trait to either try and detect if the invisible person/creature is still there or if not track it from the blood (assuming the blood belongs to the creature)? if so what would i need to roll? i should be able to do the first bit but not sure about the latter as neither of them have tracking.

Unless they have the track feat they won't be able to follow the scent, only detect an opponent nearby. As it happens, neither of them seem particularly roused.

As Forenrond reaches the platform's edge he can see a discarded dagger smothered in fresh blood, it seems to be the source of the dripping below.

I'll hoist myself up as quickly as I can and draw my rapier.

 Skyrim.

Upon poking around, you find a sharp farming tool smothered in blood laying atop of two beams, it seems to be the source of the drippy mess below. The guard who had been going up the ladder looks up with a concerned expression, and then follows after you, the timber of the ladder creaking as it supports the weight of his armour.

Did you say the loft was full of hay? I'll start poking about in it with my rapier.

Bales of the stuff, just like your face. Hay. Hey. Yep.

You stab the hay, it seems to act and look like like hay.

Well it's either disappeared or escaped I think. Doesn't seem to be up here any more.

Looks like no ideas are forthcoming. I'll scour the hay loft to try to work out how whatever it was escaped.

Does the farming tool look like it was from inside this barn? Bit strange that this thing uses claws to kill, but a farming tool to do the rest.

Erm, look around I guess. Ask people if they saw anything (or didn't see anything), detect for magics, search the possible exits for signs of the way they left:

If we work how how they left I can try to Track them.

Sorry, I think I called it a dagger in one post, and a farming tool in the other. I blame it on posting one of those at 1:35am. Also Skyrim.
It's a farming tool, but isn't dissimilar from a dagger. Short, dirty blade, like a sharp trowel.

The farming tool looks as if it's been used before, yes. The guard at the bottom of the ladder is looking impatient, and there's an ever larger crowd assembled to watch the adventurer above stabbing hay bales.
