Much as I like Ghost Widow (she grapes my squildo, hard) if we are going to include a CoV character (which I agree we should), should it not be the big boss man, Lord Recluse?

He looks quite win. :above: . Although.. Including a CoV character at the top.. is odd, especially as it doesn't have its own forum, unless we're saying that it should have its own?

there are now more of us playing CoV regularly than some of the other games that have thier own forum, so maybe it should, yeah.

Nickface wrote:So I just had a tought, instead of cramming everything into one top image, how about something like an animated GIF that features one specific game that is set to change every 15 seconds or so? Or perhaps just put in a random image script to the top corner (I beleive that was talked about before).

EDIT: Something like this, perhaps?

Me likes. Plus I can easily knock up an eve tile you could add with the logo and us old-time, important eve players on.

I think Woo is more interested in a static one narf, also Killslay makes a good point about the GIF version buggering up the nice gradient colour of the background.

And finding that point between file size and quality will be a bitch and a half.

Then don't make it a gif, but have a random image loaded each time the page is refreshed...?

I imagine this is do-able or could use some javascript to change the image every minute or something.

I did a small script written for an ASP page but I am sure the Magic Code Monkey could easilly convert to PHP if needed. This was just called for then in the HTML code using

Code: Select all

<td valign="top" align="left" width="175"><br><br><a href="image.asp"><img border="0" src="image.asp"></a><br><br><img border="0" src="image1.asp"><br><br><img border="0" src="image2.asp"></td>

Code: Select all

<% dim array(9)

randomize

array(1)="rdm1.gif"
array(2)="rdm2.gif"
array(3)="rdm3.gif"
array(4)="rdm4.gif"
array(5)="rdm5.gif"
array(6)="rdm6.gif"
array(7)="rdm7.gif"
array(8)="rdm8.gif"
array(9)="rdm9.gif"
array(0)="rdm0.gif"

upperbound=ubound(array)
lowerbound=0
Irandom=Int((upperbound - lowerbound + 1)*rnd + lowerbound)
response.redirect "images/" & (Array(Irandom))
%>
Can be seen working at http://www.cadduct.com/pictest.htm
