I've never really "got" the whole Happy New Year bollocks that everyone in work is walking around saying today as it's the first day back.

Erm, surely it's just an excuse to go otu and get pissed isn't it?

How on earth are you supposed to reply to somebody at work stating "Happy New Year" with an insane grin on their face?

I usually smile back and grunt something which is usually taken to mean "you too!".
Actually of course I am muttering "cupcake".

Since I'm not back at work until next Monday hopefully everyone will have forgotten about it by then, which is part of the reason I booked the time off in the first place.

This, although I did it because I can't be arsed going back to work yet.
