World in Conflict beta - first impressions

Post by Lateralus »

I've not actually gotten round to trying this yet, but does someone who has fancy knocking up a bit of a review? I'm keen to give it a go at some point, but it may be a week or two until I actually get round to it.

I think you have a speed problem. Me and KV are currently sharing a ~768 line, thinks its the fastest his 1meg will do. I've downloaded loads of stuff whilst he's been playing games and vice versa, still enough bandwidth to play beef and have azureus trickling away. Other than that, just leave your pc on overnight and wake up to a download!

its a 512 line you peewit, maximum speed is about 60KB per sec, 2mb shud be getting at least triple that.

peewit? Is that offensive? either way, my point still stands, 2mb is shiloads faster, so if its slow, theres summat wrong, either with the line or with 'the incredible...'!

I'm afraid he's all yours anham. Remember, I'm gettin busy [s]with[/s] in his sister!

 Good christ, just had a thought, anham said he was heading up to leeming with his big chopper, I think KV may be trying to pull off some kind of ingeneous attempt to bum him! Im safe, I met KV and fitted a miniature steel jaw trap to my anus as a result, just a precaution.

Hmm, how often do you read a line like that "miniature steel jaw trap to my anus..."

i know my connection sucks. speedguide.net usually reports about 1.9mb down, 190kish up but ping about 500+

i don't know whether its a hardware prob with the line, the modem, the router or the network cvable. or maybe just a software prb f some kind

speed-testers suck hard.

get downthemall (or another download manager and try downloading this (world in conflict) using 10 connections.

that'll give you a pretty accurate idea of speed.

also remember it's possible your ISP is shite and/or limiting your traffic.

for ping. open a command prompt (start > run > cmd) and type ping 217.112.95.67 then hit enter. that'll give you an accurate idea of pings

i have spoken to virgin and they have confirmed we are getting heavy packet loss on ou conenction (only getting about 40% of our connection so they are sending an engineer next week, who will probably turn up outside of the specified hours and come without the equipment he needs to repair or replace our modem
