2014 Nominations: Game of the Year

Post by Dog Pants »

Welcome to the nominations thread for the 5punk Game of the Year. This differs slightly from the other GotY awards in that it is intended for the game played in 2014 which has proven to be the most 5punky, but not necessarily the best. Often games which are technically terrible but hilariously broken will be nominated here, although more often than not the winner is both good and a vessel for ridiculous 5punky calamity. Please post your nominations below, a poll will be taken in the New Year to determine the winner.

Space Engineers. It only lasted a short while and was mostly just me and Fab, but in that time it produced a lot of "I've made a terrible mistake" moments, at least one CDC ship and a massive magenta boat.

Does Chiv crypt mode count as a game? Playdate is a contender too, but a little less inclusive with the limited numbers that can play at once.

I'm going to nominate Starcraft 2. Not for the game itself but for the ridiculous Arcade modes we've played. Pictionary was hilarious, Aiur Chef was awesome, Star Party was desk-chewingly frantic and Light Bikes had us wailing and laughing.

The games I enjoyed most this year were Insurgency, Titanfall and the usual Red Orchestra 2. Payday 2 was very good before I lost interest as was Space Engineers. R.I.P. Terrorpin I & II.

I'm going to bang Mount Your Friends in here for a last minute nomination, at the risk of serving up the flavour of the month. That game has me crying with laughter. I'll be putting the voting polls up as soon as I can, so get any remaining nominations in quickly.
