I tried them, I didn't get on with them. If you are good with them fair play but this was far more painful than playing murky before the patch.
I will also be avoiding, and staying away from quick match whilst they are on free. They never put Abathur on free because of the difficulty curve so I won't be surprised if this is the last time we see them on free.

I didnt realise that he was never free. Ive seen him around a fair few times though, he can be amazing when played well.

Oddly enough this article on PCGN claims Pajamathur (for that is his true form) is one of the best starting characters. I've never played him so I couldn't say. But I do like his pyjamas.

Pajamathur is indeed a beast of rarity and class, such style, such panache, such...slime.
I'm tempted, really really tempted, to buy him and see what he plays like. Map awareness is my massive failing and I need to improve, Fraser seems to think it will do that but I'm not convinced.
There are better specialists out there that are easier to play, Zagara is one and you can stay with the zerg theme. I also dispute his Tassadar support. Tassadar plays less supporty and more damage-y, Rehgar would be a better choice.

Yeah, im not convinced in his logic about learning map awareness from him. I suspect if you don't have good map awareness you will just suck at playing Abathur, and wont improve. If you have map awareness issues, playing ETC once he has Stage Dive might be an idea; lack of map awareness won't make him utterly useless, but you need it to make the most of teleporting into a fight.

Little bit of advice for newer players, from what i've observed over the last few days: Don't over-emphasise team fights. Keeping the lanes manned and running away from team fights that are looking bad in the early game will get you more XP. If you have the choice of initiating a fight or taking advantage of the map thingies, go for the map thingies. I've both been in and fought against teams that were rolling around in a big death ball, pwning team fights and ended up losing because the other team were taking advantage of the map, pushing lanes and grabbing merc camps.

In fact, that goes double for the map thing. A couple of times now I have been in a team that won maps like Blackhearts Bay and Sky Temple despite having far less kills that the opponents. In one of them, we won despite being a couple of levels down, because the other team were completely ignoring the temples.

EDIT: Oh, also, Vikings might be abysmal in unskilled hands, but god damn are they good if the player knows what they are doing. Just been in a game where the guy playing the vikings was bloody everywhere.

Beginners, which that article purports to target get a choice of Nova.

I'm not saying she's bad because it's so tricky to determine how good a character could be in my hands, but more mention should perhaps be made of her.

The choices change every week, so the idea is to play the rotation ones and buy any that you click with. It's different for everyone. A lot of people don't get on with Nova, but I quite like her.

Nova is another one of the characters that is great if you are a little cautious, but terribad if you charge in like an idiot all the time. Good choice for beginners who at least have a rough idea how MOBAs work but are not yet familiar with HotS. Bad choice for people completely new to this kind of game.

Yeah, I have Malfurion already too, so I'll pass the code on for that hero if I win that (but I'll keep the skin ;) )

Woop! I won a Raynor bundle. There's also a load of other stuff from launch day, like a card back for Hearthstone and a HotS mount for having a level 100 WoW character. Sweet (as the button to accept says).

I also got a Raynor bundle! and a mount and a pet in WoW and a cardback. By my reckoning I should also be able to get the flying card-mount when it becomes available.

I got nothing.
Maybe it's because I accidentally added my comment twice and couldn't delete the extra.

The only thing we got from PCGN was the skin, the golem is a mini-pet for wow and is from achieving a certain rank in Heroes, the card back is for Herathstone and similarly for reaching a level in Heroes and the mount is for Heroes and is achieved by getting level 100 in WoW.
