Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
I too am really enjoying this, but it's irritating the piss out of me that I can't use anything in my backpack since the last update. Will try to reinstall to see if that fixes unbreaks it

Yesterday I found out how to pick up my coyote pack that I kept dropping, it's mousewheel. FUCKING. MOUSEWHEEL.

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Fucking bandits are starting to piss me off now. I had a pretty good game where I teamed up with some random fella, together we raided a firestation where I found a silenced m9 (most useful gun so far). Then we went to the hospital where I found a blood pack and some injector thingies. We saw some guy opposite the street from us so we called out to him, but he had a sniper rifle and shot us both dead. the end.
When the real zombie apocalypse happens I'm just going to shoot everybody pre-emptively, humans are cunts.

That's pretty much the learning curve of every zombie story ever

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Hotfixes are now up to 1.5.8.4
Variety of ways to get this and any future ones, the easy installer is best for steam versions otherwise you can download the rar file with the updated pbo files that you drop into the mod folder or a full exe that will over-write your @dayz folder with the new stuff.
The only thing that's painless is the updating.

Do 5punkers have a particular server we're playing on?

I know Pnut and myself tend to gravitate to the Pandemic Legion ones, mostly because they seem to be in Sweden and have pretty good pings.tandino wrote:Do 5punkers have a particular server we're playing on?
I think the best way to find out is probably to add the game to Steam and use the friends list to see who is playing.

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Oh, in a turn up for the books, after finally getting on and despite one server hiccup where myself and 6 other survivors/bandits spawned in a debug area and died, I've respawned somewhere in the NE* with all my gear...and blood! I'm no longer passing out randomly! Woo!
*Think it's Solnichniy.
*EDIT*
May I suggest people find their way to Polana?
The supermarket there is easy to reach and it has got a big red brick house next to it that also spawns some fat lewts. As it's a small place there's a lack of zombies and it seems to be not visited by people.
Managed to pick myself up a new Czech Backpack (16 slots!), swapped my Makarov for an M1911 with a bucket load of ammo and filled up on bandages, chemlights and food. Even found a compass and a box of matches.
To top it off, there's also three deer stands nearby for even more shooty goodness.

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Sounds like a plan, I may well be near there having wandered inland and gone through lots of trees (or not, I'll have a look at the sign when I next log in)
Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
That might take me a while, I'm just south of Zelenogorsk at the min and have no compass.
Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Oooh, I logged out near a quarry near Solnichniy. that's not too far from Polana. I may have to blunder my way over there in search of something more powerful than a Makarov.
Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
does anyone fancy a bit of this and teamspazzing tonight? im back to work in a couple hours and get home between 10 and 11 but dont have work for 3 days after that

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
I'm having a kip in polana, but I had a spaz moment earlier where I shot a seemingly lone zombie and alt tabbed out to check the map assuming I was safe. However, when I returned I was getting gangraped by a at least five zombas. I managed to survive but lost a lot of blood. I ate my cans of whatever I had on me and even managed to kill and eat two rabbits for some extra blood. It's still not enough however, and my vision is incredibly blurry. This is beyond annoying as I can't really read my compass and mostly managed to find Polana by use of my excellent navigational skills (read: pure luck). It would've been a damn shame to lose this character as I have matches, a hatchet, a compass, a knife and an entrenching tool (I don't think that last one has a purpose yet though).

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Earlier I moved on from Polana (after it gave me map!) to explore Gorka, I'll double back tomorrow though as I'm pretty much at the summet of hill 291 so it's not far, and I can check the deer stand on the way.
Berezino's not too far away, which has the closest hospital if we need to get blood for Mr J.

Re: DayZ - ArmA2 Zombie survival
Actually I have blood, just no one to give it to me.
