Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
Yup, donated to that as well, though it does look like it is using a subscription model for release, don't know if I am keen on that

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
Rumour control go time:
Release date for shadowrun returns is currently rumoured to be the 26th. Apparently the level editor is available to backers, but I'm not at home so can't confirm that.
Shadowrun online will have a subs option, but it's also f2p. The difference will be that subs will be able to buy everything with in game money and will get a slight resource/xp bonus, whilst f2p will have some stuff paid for with microtransactions.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
So I suppose the question is how many people are going to play the online? Will we get a 5punkcorp up and running?
Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
No harm in playing the free bit, but no MMO has held my attention for more than a month or two for a long time.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
If it's at least halfway good I'm sure I will play for a good long time just because Shadowrun. Although I did hope the same of the marvel MMO and barely managed to keep interested for half an hour.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
I was thinking that the Shadowrun Online game could be more capable of being an online translation of the pen and paper game, where we could have GMs create scenarios and the players could all together come to decisions and all that. I'm not super sure about how to to handle stuff like dialog and what not but it could be great.
Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
It could be, but I'm not holding my breath for an MMO with original ideas.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
Yeah, the MMO looks fairly standard MMO fair narf.
Oh, also, apparently the level editor is only out for the $250+ level backers at the moment. Still, looking good for release this month.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
Woo! Official release date has been announced: 25th July. They have acknowledged that they have been saying June forever, but say they would rather push it out a month late and have more time for last minute polish and big fixes. I'm inclined to agree, personally.
The editor has been available for a short time to people who paid for the higher tier kick starter pledge and apparently there is a fair bit of pretty decent community made content around already. I am super excite.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
I really like the look of this and might well buy it on release, however I don't know anything about the Shadowrun universe. I'm sure you won't need to to enjoy and understand the game but I'd like to do a bit of background reading so I can appreciate it more. So can anyone recommend some light online reading to catch me up? I know there's wikis, official websites, and mounds of stuff that comes from a Google search but I thought I'd just ask you lot as you might know of something particularly pertinent to my aim. Cheeeers.
Btw LP'ers, I reckon this would be a good one to do straight away. Newer games will get a lot more views achieving one of the aims of the channel which is to get more people checking us out. Also some of you know Shadowrun so well it'll be a better quality product than most of the brain dead big LP channels, and likely to attract like minded people if you're going all nerdy on the lore.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
WORDS. That was apparently put together as an intro to the shadowrun universe specifically for SR Returns. Its pretty bloody long as an intro though, so I would recommend reading through the first chapter and then just skimming the rest.
