Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
A turn based single player shadowrun game set in the old days of shadowrun and developed by a bunch of the guys who wrote the p&p game? Available DRM free, and through steam with an iPad version too? Holy shit...
I've just watched the actual video bit too. Level editor with a built in way of sharing your creations? Ability to hire your mates characters to help in your game? Acknowledgment that the FPS was balls?

Gonna back the fuck out of that.
Cue the distant sound of Gary Numan's "Cars" drifting on the breeze, coming to your rescue.$60 reward wrote:Previous rewards + a Shadowrun Returns "BACKER" T-SHIRT + a PERSONALIZED DOC WAGON CARD will be sent to your home + you will also get the IN-GAME DocWagon benefit of a fully-armed emergency ambulance or chopper to save your team of runners when the drek hits the fan. Note: This is an in-game service only. No armed medical extraction team will actually arrive at your home. More details in the FAQ. (Please add $5 for international shipping)

Backed!
They reached their target in 28 hours which is pretty cool. In the thank you video they say how touched they are (oo-er) and how that will make work really hard to make sure they don't let people down - I really like this approach. They're genuinely looking to make a good game for the people who funded it, rather than the traditional method (traditional for some anyway - I'm looking at licensed games particularly) of churning out any old shit and cashing in on people's loyalty to a brand.

Chucked some wedge at it too. Was close to caving and getting a gold doc wagon card. But I resisted.Roman Totale wrote:Backed!

I had to slap myself when I started looking at the 'your face in the game' and 'your name in the credits' options.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
I think a large part of this is due to the lead designer being the guy who originally came up with the concept for SR and lead the design of the first game. Its kind of his "baby". That and a lot of the people working on it I recognise from the better parts of the recent stuff makes me think that if they fail to make a decent game, it certainly won't be because they didn't try. These are people who are doing this because they want to make a game they will enjoy, not because they think it will make them rich.Roman Totale wrote:They're genuinely looking to make a good game for the people who funded it

Also, if they hit $1m they plan to add in a second location to the game.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
I am so. Fucking. Excited!
In related news: they have announced that they are going to do a book for using the sr4 rules in the old 2050's setting, which is the same era this game is going to be set in. Might be good for a one off at a bash or something, if people are interested?

I think this will be better than a unicorn made out of crack rock. Will it also give me a legitimate reason to do this?Joose wrote:I am so. Fucking. Excited!

I think that's the best excuse I've heard in a long time.

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
It's been over a year now, with a release date slated for June.
Are we all still excited? I know I am, looking forward to seeing and playing some of the games you lot create with the Editor

Needless to say, I am super excite. I think I'm actually looking forward to the editor as much as the game itself. I wanna make things!

June? Hot damn!
I've only just noticed that all my SR Kickstarter updates had been going into my spam folder - time to get reading!

Re: Shadowrun Kickstarter
Has anyone been paying attention to the shadowrun online game that's being kick-started as well?
