Battlefield 3 Server

Post by Dog Pants »

Image

Cycle is set to alternate between one Conquest map and two Rush (one attack, one defend). Conquest ticket limit is set to 80% to make the rounds a bit quicker.

The server has one rule: Don't be a dick. Being a dick constitutes behaviour which is pissing everyone else off - smack-talk, base rape, vehicle stealing etc. This goes double for admins, as we are the ones who can kick other people for being dicks. Feel free to ban the obnoxious ones.

Current map cycle is as follows:
  • Conquest - Operation Firestorm
    Rush - Grand Bazaar
    Conquest - Noshahar Canals
    Rush - Seine Crossing
    Conquest - Kharg Island
    Rush - Caspian Border
    Conquest - Davamand Peak
    Rush - Noshahar Canals
    Conquest - Operation Metro
    Rush - Davamand Peak
    Conquest - Grand Bazaar
    Rush - Teheran Highway
    Conquest - Seine Crossing
    Rush - Operation Firestorm
    Conquest - Caspian Border
    Rush - Kharg Island
    Conquest - Teheran Highway
    Rush - Operation Metro

Hooah!

Have to say I'm enjoying the 32 player Rush and Conquest maps more than the gigantic open plan ones.

Weewah woowah!

Does this include the reversal of map so defenders get to attack (and vice versa) and see if they're better or worse?

Yeah, the two rounds/map switches it then moves on. Not that big a deal in Conquest, I can try to drop it to 1 round per map for those if need be. Conquest is generally more popular though so I'd say best to leave it as is for now.

It can always be changed back. I thought that with at least the first couple of maps small it might feel better while we get people in.

Is there any way to shuffle through the maps? Currently it resets back to the beginning of the list as soon as the server is empty. Even if we get the server fuller more of the time it might be unlikely that we get to play the maps near the bottom and it'll get a bit repetitive.

You can with Procon. Don't know if there are console commands for it.

There's a new server tool out from the chaps at i3d.net. Might be worth investigating if it's better than Procon. DICE mods posted about it on the official forums.

It's a bit more of a fancy GUI than Procon, but that also makes it a bit less easy to read. Other than that it seems to be pretty similar. Personal preference will be the only difference I imagine.

Do we need to do anything to get these new maps on our sever? Just checked and they aren't on there yet.

I'd wait a few days till Dice fix the content unlock issues.

Fuck, they seem to have charged me again despite my card expiring. Although no money has left my account, so maybe it won't come out. I didn't know how to cancel so I just left them to fail to take the money and cancel it for me, but I have an invoice. Oops. So I've raised a ticket and hopefully they'll cancel and not charge me. Failing that I hope I can block the payment with my bank.
