D&D Adventure #3: Vicious Circle
Thor, Thoroar, Glibberig, Forenrond and Orovan.. Time to wake up!
I'm cutting my losses and running it as I'd written it instead of fretting about story right now.
I'm back at the parents' place at the moment, but I'll start writing the intro (and a catch-up) tonight, all being well!
You all available to play?

Yes!
Don't worry too much about the details Grimmie, you'll end up winging half of it anyway. To quote Carl von Clausewitz, no plan survives contact with the enemy. Or in this case, the players.

Glibberig wakes from his small bed in the modest accommodation provided at the inn. He rises and stretches, ready to meet the new day.
Whether it was all a dream or a vivid hallucination, you'd have to ask Glibberig. But he'll tell you the whole thing totally happened and exactly in that way.
The Saint Bernard raises its eyebrows at him, showing no inclination to rise or shine. Glibberig continues to prance around the room.Glibberig wrote:Come along, Sweetlips - no time to be a lazy bones! Time see what the world holds in store!
The gnome cartwheels over the prone pooch and bursts out of the room, somewhat surprising the innkeeper's wife who is sweeping the floor. Glibberig grabs her by the arm and spins her round in a waltzGlibberig wrote:My dog likes to sleep
On the floor he does recline
If he didn't have to eat or drink
He'd sleep all of the time!
Leaving the woman dizzy and confused he carries on down the stairs to the main inn. As he walks down the stairs he twirls a cane in one hand and waves his hat in the other.Glibberig wrote:Even though he's lazy
He really is very brave
When I'm adventuring and generally jestering
He'll protect me from many a knave
As he reaches the bottom of the stairs he leaps upon the nearest table and continues to dance between the mugs of ale. The patrons gawp in astonishment. He capers from table to table, stamping his feet and clapping his hands to the rhythm. A few of the more intoxicated drinkers bang their mugs along in time.Glibberig wrote:Yes, I've got a dog who's sweet
I've got a dog who's kind
I've got a dog who's so amazing
He'll truly blow your mind!
All the drinkers are now on their feet, stamping and clapping, quaffing and dancing. Glibberig bursts from the inn, on to the street, followed by a chorus of drinkers and singers.Glibberig wrote:He'll bite you on the hand
He'll bite you on the rear
He'll bite you any time or place
The dog who knows no fear!
Yes, I've got a dog who's sweet
I've got a dog who's kind
I've got a dog who's so amazing
He'll truly blow your mind!
As the procession carries on down the street door flies open and the townsfolk flock out to join in. Shutters open from the top floors and housewives lean out to sing along. Six young maids join in from the sides carrying baskets of roses, and shower the gnome with petals. By now the whole town has joined in and are all singing along.Glibberig wrote:Now good folk don't be frightened
You really have nothing to fear
He'll only attack to cover my back
Because he holds me so dear!
Yes, I've got a dog who's sweet
I've got a dog who's kind
I've got a dog who's so amazing
He'll truly blow your mind!
On the last word of the song Glibberig drops to one knee, stretches out his arms and waves his hands. As the song finishes the entire town bursts into rapturous cheering and celebration.Glibberig wrote:In the North he is a Duke
In the East they made him King
He's such an amazing and wonderful dog
And that is why we sing
Yes, I've got a dog who's sweet
I've got a dog who's kind
I've got a dog who's so amazing
He'll truly
blow
your
miiiiiiiiiiiiiiind!

I'm imagining that to be the opening titles of the adventure.

Re: D&D Adventure #3: Vicious Circle
An unconscious Glibberig fidgets and twitches, lost in a dream across the back of his enormous riding dog as the four adventurers that had left for Springdell Crossing to buy mounts are now returning. It's mid-morning and the ride has been quite peaceful, Orhedge is visible just over the horizon between a corridor of tall deciduous trees.
It's not unusual to see a few trails of smoke rise from chimney stacks over the palisade wall in the morning, but there appears to be an acrid column of black smoke pouring from the centre of the town, drifting off to the west with the light morning breeze.
Even Thor, out in the woods will have heard the morning's commotion, there appears to be quite a lot of noise coming from within the town.
---
Bits, Jack, Bali: Are you guys playing this adventure?
Can you all make sure I have your latest character sheets?

I dropped in your box.
Re: D&D Adventure #3: Vicious Circle
I've been waiting to see if anyone else is playing before getting started. Also I forgot to do my character sheet thing, but I'll sort that now.

I prodded Bali and bits last night, who are without their character sheets, or modifying them currently.
I haven't seen FJ anywhere on Xfire/Steam, so if anyone can contact him that would be swell.
But by all means, do start.

FJ! We need Thor's stoic manly presence. Will Bart be joining us? We need his stoic, manly ability to carry things and stand around and get hit.
Re: D&D Adventure #3: Vicious Circle
I'll wake up Glibberig and spur Humbug on towards town.

Thor will be joining - although I'm not entirely sure where we left it with regards a mount. For now imagine him floating mid-air in a seated position travelling at roughly the speed he would on horseback.
I've been busy at work in the daytimes the last couple of weeks and been console spazzing in the evenings. Now I'm a bit more settled in at work I might have time for the odd lunchtime post, but I'll try to remember to check a few times during the evenings if I'm not on the PC. I'm off to Wales on Friday night, but will be back by Monday.Thor wrote:Yee-haw!

Glibberig jolts awake and surveys the scene in the distance. He turns to Shankley, wrinkling his nose:
He peers at the columns of smoke, brow knitted in concentrationGlibberig wrote:Did you leave your unwashed socks under the bed? And I always though Elves were so dainty.
Hang on a minute. During my travels I become friendly with the Eagle Feather tribe of the Great Plains in the the far West. After I taught them the secret of fire and they made me chief, they taught me how to read their smoke signals that they used to communicate with over long distances. Let me see if I can decipher it...
Glibberig wrote:There...is...a...fire.
There is a fire! We must hurry! My Eagle brothers are calling me for assistance!

Thor stands at the edge of town, seemingly frozen in the exactly same spot he was left as he waved the rest of the party off when they went to the next town to get their mounts all that time ago. Since it's daytime and outside he can see them approaching and he looks at the animals appraisingly.

Damn fucking right he's appraising; Forenrond's riding Humbug, one of these bad boys:
