looking in the back of the book, it's a second sheet that details squad name, squad cohesion and gets flipped over for squad and solo abilities.

I've yet to find it in any online download

EDIT:

There's a tab at the end that has solo and squad abilities. From what I've gathered you start off using solo, then move up to squad abilities as you bond as a group.

I've skimmed the combat section and still don't understand what you actually roll, but it looks a bit like Eclipse Phase.

Pete, I'll upload my character so you can have a goosey. Bloody ugly character sheet from that Excel thing, but it does a lot of the work so I can live with that.

Am I being incredibly stupid (highly probable) or does it not tell you in the book how much XP talents cost? I've been looking for ages and can't find it anywhere :x

I don't know as I've not even got that far yet, but I did like this handy tip:
Several of the options in later chapters allow a character to spend an amount of Experience Points, abbreviated as "xp".

Chapter 2

page 60-63 - General Marine Advances

Page 64-65 - Deathwatch Advances (cannot buy at creation)

Page 66-67 - Chapter Advances.

Also, each speciality has advances specifically for them as well, but again, cannot buy at creation, as the 1000 is for before you join Deathwatch.

What book should I read to make a character? There are 86 files in the shared directory I accidentally deleted (sorry about that, counted against my DropBox limit). Which is the one Pnut handed me, but was unable to read as I was on my way out of the door to the shops?

I'm guessing it's 'Deathwatch' in the 'Death Watch' directory (duh), are the Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy completely separate thingies?

Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy are separate games, Dark Heresy is about the Inquisition and Rogue Trader is about, erm rogue traders.
Also Blood Angels Assault marine Brother Israfil is nearly complete.

I just need to say, I really need help with this character creation. I have the basics down OK (Characteristics, Chapters, Specialty) but the Skills and Talents are baffling.

I found it was most useful to ignore skills and go for talents. They seem to cost increments of 500xp, so you can either have one for 1000 or two for 500, and most seem useful in some way (unlike most of the skills).

EDIT: Also, I worked out how to do combat and I really like the sound of the system.

EDIT 2: For an easier to read explanation of the combat rules read the first few chapters of Final Sanction.

Mr Pete

Rather than faff about with dodgy dice rolls, I've been useing the 100 point alternatie method printed in the book.

If you want dice rolls, I will change it.

Pete, kwestchun!

In tactical marine gear, it states you get an 'Astartes Bolt Gun with Fire Selector'

In the Armoury, there are two labelled such, the Godwyn pattern and the Stalker pattern.

Do I get to chose which one I get, or are you stating its specifically the Godwyn?

Godwyn is the starter bolter, Stalker is Respected renown (20-39 renown points) so you only get this after a few missions.
