BEARD BASH! 8D

Post by Joose »

I wasn't sure whether to put this in here or the beards forum, but this won the "flip a coin" decision process.

I am currently persuading the Mrs that our house would be a good venue for some sort of a bash. I have gained tacit approval for a smallish gathering over a weekend, which I think would be ideal for a beard bash: A weekend of non-computer related gaming. Obviously there would be some flavour of p&p RPG being played, depending on who would come, but I thought it might also be good to try some other beardy pastimes; maybe some tabletop wargaming or something. Games could also be video streamed/recorded for non-attendants and posterity.

Like I say, it *probably* wouldn't be of the same scale of peoples as the average Grimbash, but that might work in our favour if we spend the whole time bearding. I don't want to set an arbitrary cut off for numbers just yet though, so I thought I would gauge interest and go from there.

Currently thinking early in the new year, maybe towards the end of Jan, beginning of Feb, but I'm open to alternative suggestions.

So! who would be up for it, what would you feel like doing, and what dates should we look at? Absolutely nothing is set in stone at the moment, so just say what's best for you guys.

Colour me interested, although normal T&Cs apply. I could run SLA, but it's unlikely all the players would be there or that I'd have the opportunity to fit in a standalone (and that's kind of unfair to the guys who can't make it), or an exhibition game with a one-off scenario and characters (which is nice as you can make it a bit more dangerous).

I'd probably give this a go. End of Jan/Start of Feb is the exam period/new term start for uni, though.

I'd be interested but am a massive noob when it comes to this sort of thing. Would I need my own special dice? Don't know where I'll be job-wise then as of yet, I might be in the "do anything, nights, weekends, whatever" zone by that point.

You will need some 2-sided dice, tartan paint and headlight fluid.

To be honest, I'm sure Joose has enough dice to show pi to 1 million places.

I'm interested but I'm supposed to save my money. I could do the streaming thing off course.

Noobness is not a problem. In fact, something like this would be the perfect place to get into it, as its a lot easier to learn in a more "traditional" setting than on a forum.

And no, you wont need special dice. If you guys have stuff you want to bring, brilliant, but its not required.

So, there seems to be a decent amount of people interested, lets try and work out a date. Presuming Jan/Feb, what dates are there that people definitely cant do?

Could certainly possibly do, depending on financial status.
