Brum Bash VI

Post by Grimmie »

One year on from a highly successful Brum Bash V, it's time for Brum Bash VI
Date confirmed: Friday 11th June - Monday 14th June

Previous bash thread is here, same rules apply, bring some dosh for food and drink, and sleeping equipment if you have any.
Preperation thread is here.

People have already registered their interest seeing as I announced this bash in October '09 in a bid to get our overseas buddies over for a change. Alas all but one slots are filled up by Brits and Belgians, we do have two first-time bashettes coming along though, so make them feel warm and fuzzy by welcoming them into the throng on the day.

If you're currently signed up on the <a href="http://www.5punk.co.uk/phpbb/scheduler. ... >Scheduler entry but you don't think you can make it then please take yourself off so someone else can fill up your slot (hurr hurr).

Friday 11th
Gates open at 2pm, we shall assemble and eat tasty food and drink tasty drink.
If anyone has to arrive early due to fail-trains or super long journeys, let me know and we can grab lunch together or something.

Saturday 12th
Theme park day! I've done a little investigation and found out that a group of 12+ people can get into Drayton Manor at a £9 discount each. Instead of being £28 standard entry, we can get in for £19. What I do need however, is your opinion on transport to the theme park. The way I see it, we have two options.

OPTION ONE
If enough people come down in cars, we could squeeze everyone in to 3/4 5punker cars and drive there in the morning.
This relies on the drivers not drinking their faces off on Friday so that they're not swerving around the place the next morning.

OPTION TWO
We hire a minibus to take us there and back. AtoB taxis quoted me £50-£55 each way, which is roughly £3.50 per person each way, taking our 'ticket price' to £26, which is still cheaper than standard entry. This has the advantage of nobody having to drive, but the disadvantage of the taxis possibly costing more if we hit bad summer traffic.

Gates open at 9am, and rides at 10am. Rides close at about 5pm.

Sunday 13th
Now would probably be a good time to fry up all that tasty, tasty bacon, sausages, eggs and what have you. I've been asked by Mr. J if I can source some black puddin' for this special occasion, so I shall seek some out. If you have any meat that you want fried then feel free to bring it along, just so long as it isn't say.. A massive steak.

Sunday night may contain hairy beards, you have been warned.

Monday 14th
You all get to go home and give me a hug or some shit. Any help with tidying up would be super appreciated, even if it's just moving glasses into the kitchen and throwing stuff into bins or black bags. Recycling boxes are just outside the kitchen slidey-door.

Would appreciate an empty house come 4 or 5pm, but I understand that's not always the way if you have gheytrains to catch, so I am flexible. If people going home at lunchtime need a place to grab food, I can point you in the direction of foody places.

Any questions related to the bash, ask them here!

Well, the only thing I still need to know is if and where I can get a lift, If prof doesn't have a car available we'll have to take the train, but for me this is quite costly so it would be convenient if I could get picked up somewhere along the way to brum and drive the rest of the way there.
I'll be arriving at 12.30 AM on Friday, and my chunnel train back leaves at 7.30 PM on Monday, just so you know.
And you'll be paid in cakeypie.

Yeah I can drive, but this time I will not be in central London, so you'll have to travel our wonderful tube network to get to my place. Should take about 40mins is from Kings Cross, and not a complex route.

No worries, I'm starting to get the hang of the tube by now, even if reading the tube map is like trying to decipher ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs.
But yeah, we'll discuss it closer to the date of departure, I'll just forget if you tell me now.

Problem with buses is that there are only two in the morning, and only one in the afternoon.
Oh, and the bus and entry price is £30, which is the priciest method either way.

Something I just considered is that we better not get too late to the park itself, so we have enough time to do stuff. This might be a problem, so I vote for the minicab option, as that way everyone will have to be ready at a set time.

Hot piss! Bobbins has arrived!
It might be worth for all the people coming from London to go in one car if there is three of us, it might make things easier. or not, I haven't really thought this through.

Should be worth it if timings work out, not sure about time off work yet, I might only have the normal weekend so arrive Friday evening and leave Sunday night.

Bobbins, you will come down with a terrible, awful virus that will render you incapacitated between the dates of the bash.
Therefore you cannot come as you will be home from work, recovering. This is correct, no?
