Summer Musics

Post by Dog Pants »

Summer's starting to come around, and I love having a happy sumer CD for the car. Problem is I've never got enough happy summer tracks to fill one. Ah well. What are your summer tunes? The ones that, even if you hear them in winter make you think of hot weather, swimming pools, and beer gardens?

Mine (according to my summer playlist) are:
Tupac - California Love
10cc - Dreadlock Holiday
Finlay Quay - Sun is Shining
Gnarles Barkley - Smiley Faces
Mint Royale - Sexiest Man In Jamaica
Tim Deluxe - It Just Won't Do
Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - Summer Time

Also, dance wise:
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar
Chicane - Saltwater
Wigan Pier - Beachball
Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You
Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel

well i can't stop listening to this song at the moment. it's quite summery.

for some reason Gorillaz - El Manana has always been a summery feeling song for me, even though it really isn't all that summery.
edit: listening to the song right now, he says "summer" like a hundred times. that's probably why :D

Jamiroquai - I'm in the mood for love
Shanice - I love your smile
Madness - Uncle Sam

I have a whole folder of summer songs at home I can post once I return there

Also Handbuilt by Robots - Newton Fawlkner is an awesome summer album, could picture myself outside lobbing a frisbee around and having a bbq with that on

[edit] Mungo Jerry - In the summertime (obvously!)
New Radicals - You get what you give

Did we do this before? I remember suggesting a load of songs with 'Summer' in the title to someone.

They probably weren't helpful and I think they included Donna Summer, just because.

I might have asked before. You can see by the age of the songs how often I add to my list. Mind you, we've not had a summer in about three years.

Why do you tease us with these videos not available in this country?

Awesome track though, can't believe it wasn't in my library.

Today I have my windows wide open, sitting in a t-shirt, drinking a cold glass of coke, and listening to 100% Summer Mix '96.

Some quality summer tunes on that so far.

I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT!

Bah, I've been freezing my ass off here, apart from the hour or so I spent doing battle PT carrying folk about and running around. Mind you, I was lucky to have to carry two skinny blokes. They, however, weren't so lucky having to carry my 14st ass. I was amused to see several people move away from our service-level rugby prop when they though we'd be carrying people about.

Anyway, just remembered that pretty much anything by the Fun Lovin' Criminals is good for lazy summer days.

That whole album is summer for me. It always gets dragged out at the first hint of spring. Probably one of my top 10, evar.

Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
Drop Nineteens - Delaware
Sugar - Copper Blue
Ludovico Einaudi - Eden Roc

and the peerless Simon and Garfunkel - Concert in Central Park

Ooh, you've just reminded me that I have the album. It's been hidden away for years. Behind The Sun isn't it?

But finding the box with the single version of 'Don't Give Up' in it instead of the correct disc is a lot of fail. I think I'll have to either re-purchase it or acquire a backup from t'internet.
