Mr Tashima takes the box, eagerly, not really paying attention to what you are saying. He looks over the box quickly, and then, before you can stop him, flips open the lid...
I'll let you all have a bit of a panic here, if you want
Best roll initiatives too, to see the order people do stuff in. Remember that, as Chopper is currently driving the car and therefore oblivious to events, he will be missing out the first round, as if it were an ambush.

Chopper is currently rocking out to Gary Numan in the front of the car. The privacy window is up so he'll probably be oblivious until something happens.
However, as I have Combat Sense I get a +2 for all surprise rolls. Rolling for Surprise:
Reaction (4) + Intuition (2) + Combat Sense (2) = 8
5,5,5,1,3,6,3,3 = 4 hits
no idea what this actually means though.

1) first adventure for most of us
2) doing it on a web forum is somewhat confusing
3) Joose takes forever to give us updates and such
4) ...
5) PROFIT!
I'm quite sure the next one will be much more smooth.

Yeah, you're right, just messing with you
As the box opens, he pauses for a second, then reaches in. Looking up at your slightly shocked expressions, he grins a little, and brings out an odd looking white mask (honest, this was in the story waaay before the last SLA thing ). Handling it like its about to explode, he takes some thick cloth out of his pocket, wraps the mask in it, and tucks it back into his pocket.
As he is doing this, Leland notices something odd, astrally. As you are not astrally perceiving at the moment, its just a flickering feeling, but its clearly there. As soon as the mask is put away, the feeling fades.
He looks up again and holds out the now open box.

He's a lot calmer looking than before, his voice a lot steadier.Mr Tashima wrote:The box is yours, what account do you want to be paid into?

Leland decides that calling his mentor mage about the possibility of selling the box is a good plan.

Oh yeah I will make an attempt at healing off some of this stun I have on me. Which reminds me, I have the Quick Healer quality, which gives a +2 dice to any kind of healing involving me, so I should have used another two dice when I healed dog pants. Still, that's not a huge deal anymore really.
Right, Body + Willpower + (2 - 1): 3 hits

Make sure Mr Tashima is dropped off where he wants to be dropped off, within reason, and check that the money has been transferred, then distribute it to t'other two. I'll have a word with my fence (loyalty 1, connection 3) to see if he can get a decent buyer and compare notes with Leland. Finally I'll see about getting healed (well, actually I'll do this as soon as possible). If need be I'll find a back-street quack to do it, but I'm hoping that Leland can help me out over the course of a few days.

I asked him about that earlier and I think we should be getting at least 4x from this one, which is just enough to get a new skill. I'm still trying to decide which skill I should get as I have 3 to choose from and all 3 will probably be useful at one point or another.
I'm thinking about getting Counterspelling, Astral Combat, or the Pistol skill. Astral Combat would be good for dealing with spirits or projecting astrally. Counterspelling is good for combat with other mages, and I can protect other people with it. And of course, Pistol would be good for if I need to make a ranged attack and I don't want to risk the drain.
as a side note, is it just me or are the costs for improving skills just really high? improving a skill has a x2 multiplier, so improving a skill from 2 to 3 will cost like 6xp. That's just going to be a bit ridiculous.
