Shitty news. The "brand" will carry on, but alot of the people behind are being moved on from the sounds of it.

The brand hasn't produced anything worth buying for quite some time though.

The other thing is that Maxis grew to be bunch of studios, not just one central place. It'd also been in operation a long time and people do come and go, plus it was bought by EA. The Maxis that died today would be fairly different from the Maxis of 10+ years ago.

In short, pay attention to its now ex-staff, find out who the longer term people are, and see if they band together to make any new studios, as that's likely where you'll see some of the old magic reappear.
