CPU Fan problems on Asus p8z77-v lx

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

CPU Fan problems on Asus p8z77-v lx

Post by MIkkyo »

Werd bitches. My MB is not registering the fan speed of my Alpine 11 pro Rev.2 heat sink (just comes up [N/A]). I've whacked everything on turbo anyway, updated the bios and used colourful language. But the CPU temperature is sitting at around 65c during normal running and 75c when I try to do something with lots of processes going on, like you know things it was designed to do with ease. I have the side off the case now to try and help and it's dropped a degree down to 75 from 90.
I can't find anything on ASUS or Alpine CPU fan speed not registering on bios. My other fans are recognised.
Help me 5punkers you are my only hope.

Is it plugged into the right header?

Also stick your case on its side mobo down, might cool it down a few degrees.

Either way refit your heatsink, I'd bet at least one of the legs is loose.

There is only one 4 pin for the fan and it's plugged in, the fan itself is working, I just can't see what rpm it is going at or alter it.

How many of the pins are connected to a wire? Is there a molex to fan connector to bypass the mobo?

Don't worry too much about fresh paste, just don't clean it off. you could just make sure every clip is in right.

I'm in work now, but I'm 90% sure all pins are connected to a wire. I have an old intel stock heatsink from my old PC. it still has a little dried in paste on it and all four legs seem to be solid. Should I try giving that a bash?

Ok, one of the pushpins is now broken. I've phoned around local to me to find replacements or even just a full heatsink that would fit an i5. No joy. I'm going to get some nuts and bolts I think.

Got lots of nuts and bolts. washers and I'm just about to cut some silicon to use as insulation/stress absorbtion. I'll whack up some photo's and the results when I'm done.

I think the worst is over, it appears that they have a weakness to silver. I've started melting anything silver I can find to make weaponry.

If I don't make it through this tell your mother I love her.

I managed to kill the largerest one of the group during one of their frequent raids, it appears that the smaller ones now look towards me as some sort of leader. As much as I look great in a warrior kings crown I just want to go back home to my PC and play the Kerbal space program. It seems like decades have past, is my old home even there anymore? I cannot be sure.

I'm unsure how many moons have come and gone since I started my quest. I've taken to scavenging what I can from the rubble around me. I've grown weak, but just as I thought the end was nearing the universe saw fit to reward me with a secure heatsink. With this mighty beast safely in place I could feel the power of all the warriors who had came before me flowing through my veins. I. AM. A. GOD!

I tore through the remaining horde of demonic spawn like a Berk through an Anne Summers warehouse clearance sale. I came out the other end, exhausted, but then I saw it. The one sight I had long given up on ever seeing again.

25c cpu temperature.

I am back amongst 5punkers my friends, I am whole again.
