I just had a blast with the medic, upgraded the default gun with a foregrip, ended up being much more effective than usual, landing in a role somewhere between ghetto sniper and babysitter in a mostly infantry push cutting off TR from their gate in amish country.

What's the thoughts on subscribing vs just chucking money at the game?

I subbed up, and it does give you increases in XP rate and passive cert progression, and 500SC every month too. This is pretty good in that it doesn't take me long to cert up a new weapon or upgrade vehicles, the bad side is that because the option to throw money at it is still there I often do - especially when a few beers have been drunk and "I've had it with these flying cunts!"
I woke up one Sunday to find a golden mermaid hood ornament attached to my tank...

Well neither of you died from rocket bombardment so that's a success right there.

Suprisingly few of them happening, but they could well have been around the front lines. I find that the new S2A missile is pretty good though and locks on pretty sharpish which deters them somewhat

I will say this, the devs seem to be pretty on it. That performance issue I (and others) had has been patched out.

Now running around 80-90 FPS. Fun times shall now commence :)

Thanks to grimmie I've got my new puter up and running. Is this the shooter we're all playing now?

Guh, help.

1) I was downloading this through Steam yesterday and got to about 90%. I then paused it for a bit to do some stuff on the internets.
2) When I resumed the download it went back to 0%.
3) I've since used the PS launcher to completely update the game (though it downloaded another 2GB on top of the 500MB Steam said was left).
4) PS then disappeared from Steam's download list, great I thought although the game remained in steamapps/downloading rather than being moved to steamapps/common/planetside 2.
5) So I've just gone to start the game via Steam but it won't let me play it and instead resumes at about 150MB/8.2GB
6) It's definitely downloading and not just checking the files as task manager says so.

I can play just fine if I go to the PS launcher but I'd rather use the Steam shortcut and it just generally sort itself out. Any ideas?

Turn off Steam Autoupdate for PS2 as it buggers things up (official dev comment that one), and just use the PS2 launcher directly.

Something to do with how they distribute their patches means Steam is not only always behind (so when you update to the newer version via the launcher, Steam thinks you've got the wrong version and "updates" to what it incorrectly thinks is the newest build) but also doesn't play nicely with the actual packages.

Edit:  There's also Game Update 5 that landed yesterday.

Scratch that. It get's stuck at 48% on the initial loading screen then boots me out saying something about a malfunction. This is with Steam not running too.

I have a sinking feeling a full re-download is going to be in order.

Edit: G99 error - servers are down.

Different tact: I started the install from the direct download from PS2 website, then moved all the current Steam files into that new installation folder, and then uninstalled from Steam. Seems to have worked. With my connection speed I don't want to risk Steam corrupting anything.

Finally got this downloaded, went to run it. Servers are down. I'm off to the gym for a few hours to get massive instead.

Some of you benefited from the squad boost last weekend. That's 3% for squad members and 30% for you.

I have that boost too, if somebody has already activated theirs I will wait until next weekend - unless they stack?

With all that war going on you sometimes forget the simpler things in life, like enjoying the warmth of the rising sun on Amerish.
