I agree with FJ, griefing only achieves its goal if it bothers the people affected. Server was restored from the day before the grief, security sorted and those names banned for good measure. None of em really knew what they were doing (repeated attempt to use op commands proves that) and they didn't try to hide their addresses - opporrunists really. I do like Pants idea for a spawn area though. Maybe use obsidian though.

Make sure TezzRexx is on the whitelist, he wasn't on the list in the old Minecraft server thread, is now. I'll re-sticky that and put in the details for Anery's server. Unnecessary, should have checked first.

Works surprisingly well on my Desire (best with the low graphics setting ticked mind you). Creative mode only at the moment, so not really worth £4 for the full version. But I spent my commute this morning building a massive castle on the free version. Once survival stuff gets added, I can see my journey to and from work getting a lot more fun :boogie:

Pistons don't squish people.
We could have a lava drop system though:

Code: Select all

W W
W W
W W
PTTP
W W
W W
WLLW
WWWW
W for wall, P for piston, T for piston arm, L for lava.

Could you invert that, so the lava comes from above, released by pistons?
I like the idea of them flailing wildly for the couple of seconds it takes for the lava to gloop down.

And a sign next to it that says "Push button receive bacon" and another piston pushes a pig into the hole just before the lava drops.

Should be entirely possible.

There's a wood plank square set into the floor near Baliame place. I assumed that was the protected spawn area.

When I first joined I spawned on top of a tree a little way (in a straight line) from the village bit with the piston drop panic button hole thing

That is indeed the spawn. Said spawn has a wooden block outline around it.

So, that was fun. Bloody whitelist wasn't working! and hadn't been working - ever! Thanks Jock for pointing that out. As it was further griefing was avoided by judicious use of my banhamma, see below:

It's Tom and some of out other New Yorker friends again.

It's all sorted and tested now.
I've also started work on New Spawnsom Prison. Ops can edit the spawn area, so I have done some dynamite gardening and started to put an obsidian wall around the area. Thankyou to whoever put the wooden marker down - very helpful :)

The whitelist problem may be to do with how Clanforge works, there may be two possible lists and only one works. I'm sure I got it work but don't recall how.
