Powers!

Post by Joose »

I've had a dull day at work so far, so I've been doing a bit of thinking and writing for my super powered RPG. Ive come up with an example baddy using the proto-system I have, and it gave me lol face, so I thought I would share. I think it gives a good example of how the system works, as well as how potentially flexible it is. Also, it's kinda funny (and terrifying from a players point of view).

The baddy is called Patient Zero, and has two powers.

The first power is called Plague Zero, and has the following components:

Range (self)
AoE (medium)
Damage (Biological): 1
Duration (always on)
Trigger (does damage): Imbue (Plague Zero), 10

What all that means is this: it targets the person using it (ie, himself), but affects everyone in a medium sized area around him. It is always going, and does one point of biological damage a turn. If it does damage to anyone, they gain the Plague Zero power themselves for 10 turns.

In other words, if your character comes within range of PZ, they have to resist 1 point of bio damage. If they fail to do that, they get "infected" and start giving off their own death cloud. Note also that this death cloud of theirs will be getting them too, so even if they run away from PZ himself, they will still be taking damage each turn, and every time they do, the 10 turn counter resets. Ouch!

The second power is what turns PZ from an unfortunate soul with not long to live into an evil plague bearer, and has a lot less components:

Immunity (Plague Zero)
Duration (Always on)

:)

To give a bit of context without going into too much detail: a normal average Joe human would have a slim, but non zero chance of getting out alive, as long as they don't hang around. If PZ gets into a crowd though...

Now if only the plague made the victims want to eat brains...

Love the way it all looks to slot together though. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it for a play.

Everywhere? What about enclosed spaces? He wouldn't be any good as a miner.
