yup. repair tool, med kit and defibs are definatly class unlocks. best way would be to kill a medic/engineer and take their kit, then use it to rack up the points

I kind of like that. You've to work a little to get a specialist class.

I can sort of understand it but on the other hand whats the point in having classes to start with, if you cant do what they`re supposed to?

Fortunately my PC decided that the act of installing a game wasn't anything special, so it went into sleep mode when I left the house.

I thought that but when I looked at the unlocks page from the main menu it didn't suggest there were any pre-requisites, unlike the other unlocks. Oh well, no matter.

I've added a BACON icon. If anyone has a better one let me know and I'll replace.

The repair tool, ammo box and medkit are the first unlocks for engi, assault and support respectively, it kinda annoyed me too - kinda hard to make those specific class points without the things that those classes use primarily, but I dedicated a single round to playing medic and ended up liking the pkm and getting the medkit. Did the same for engineer, to.

I was playing, then crashed, now I can't log in. I imagine the master servers are just getting hammered since it's prime time on a friday night

Yeah. Some investigation has revealed that they're trying to get more servers up. Apparently the PC version has more players online than both consoles put together. Can't blame them for not anticipating that.

Took ages to find that amongst the "OMG DONT BUY THIS GAEM" and "OMG EA ARE SHIT :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x " posts.

Even the - last resort - "Play Now" button is reporting an error talking to EA Online now. Best call it a night for that game I think.

And that'd be why our server emptied, no one could get through the match making system to the game servers.

I quite enjoyed the time we had before the EA servers became overloaded.

The singleplayer is like CoD4 SP, with waves of respawning enemies (you even see them pop into existence if you sneak behind their lines) until you complete some trigger objective. Feels like your average console shooter. Buildings you're hiding in get destroyed a lot.

The multiplayer though, is what BeeF should have been. I hated prone - it just made it all too sniper war, and I actually like a press crouch rather than toggle. At least today there was much more stuff to do - people popping up all over the place to shoot or shoot at me, not creeping or crawling around.
The level we played was a great improvement too on most BeeF maps I can remember - easily learned and logical with few dead-ends. Most impressively, more buildings were accessible giving you alternate routes away when faced with a tank sitting in the street. Coupled with this and the huge amount of debris in the streets, it means tanks don't own the streets like they did in BeeF. And the quad bikes are great.

I like this a lot. Feels like some of the good bits of cod mixed with the good bits of bf2. The way the buildings and maps are designed make it feel much less open than the bf2 maps but at the same time offer you plenty more routes as there's more buildings to go through rather than just having to march down a big open clear road like you often had to do in bf2 to get to flag X from flag Y. The weapons also feel and sound much better than they do in BF2, though the lunge-knifing shit is starting to get old already

It does seem to suffer from unlocks being quite a bit better. My AK-74 seems hopelessly outclassed when I go one-on-one with almost anybody else. Also, snipers and noob-tubers seem to dominate at the moment. I expect when I get a few decent weapons of my own I'll get my own back. Already got one set of dog tags, and revelled in finding a sniperfag hiding right on the edge of the map. Killed him, then his mate who spawned on him. Happy days.

However, I have to admit to being a rocket whore already.

Yes. I like this game. I always liked being an achievement whore in BEEF, and every little pin I get makes me glee. Also, we're still 5punk - A squad of myself, Gunslinger, Pnut and Lee ruled the server for as long as we played together. Two best squad awards for us and two bronze stars for me. Woo!

I got two gold stars and two "ace player" pins from those rounds. The "Ace" pin is what bf2's gold star used to be, so I dont know what the gold star was.
As much as I like achievement/challenge/etc whoring the ones in bc2 start to get a bit meaningless after a while - at the end of the second round with you lot I had enough pins that it took up the little scrolly bit 5 times over. A lot of them were the same thing, apparently you can get some pins (5 healing, ammo, 5 kill assist, etc) pins multiple times per round

My friends list doesn't seem to be working.

I think part of the reason we did so well is that we were spawning on each other and sticking together. Not consciously particularly, just a natural instinct to stay close to people you know.

One day I'm going to get your dog tags. When I do I'm going to get a Prince Albert and hang them from it. How's that for close?
