Oh no, I think my Radeon just went pop!

If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Oh no, I think my Radeon just went pop!

Oh dear, I turned on my PC this morning, and got a 'PLEASE ATTATCH THE POWER SUPPLY TO YOUR RADEON ADAPTER' type message appear when I tried to boot up.

I then unhooked the power, and plugged it back into to the card and tried again

I thought this had worked, as it booted correctly, but in reality it had just reverted to using the poncy onboard thingy!

I've got to go to work very shortly (back around 5), so any suggestions as to what could be done would be welcome!

I will cry if I have to spend another £130 on a graphics card

Hmmmm was it overclocked?

What kind of cooling is there in the machine?

Have you tried a different power cable? (This very often makes no difference but I have come across a faulty cable once)

if it's an older card with a floppy drive power connector, they can be uber-picky about working (or most likely, not) give it a wiggle

I'd also check out your power supply. I've had quite a few power supplies drop on me, and a PSU not putting out the right voltages can make your PC do weird thing. With a bad PSU, you can experience random reboots (in the best case) or even royally fuck up your hardware (worst case scenario).
