So, you can sign up over at http://mwomercs.com/ and as part of the process you choose a pilot (user) name.

I've chosen the pilot name of Vibros Pazz, what about you?

Never been an epic fanboi of MW mainly cos I'm shit at it, but an online version might be amusing as at least someone may be able to hold my hand / rocket pod. I let my imagination run riot on this one and called myself Friznit.

Mechwarrior Tactics/Online

Post by Dog Pants »

I thought this and MWO had a thread of their own. Oh well, they do now. I've bunched them both together because they both seem to use the same login. Anyway, prompted by the release of the new high res model for the Commando I thought I'd link what they've done so far here. Whatever the potential downfall of these games may be (*cough* pay-to-win *cough*), it certainly won't be the re-imagined Mechs, which despite cries of 'not canon' I much prefer over the originals.

That looks pretty, and actually pretty smooth handling for a mech game by the looks of it. They need to tone that glowing red damage thing right down though - as nice as it looks, they started to look like light bulbs after a few hits.

Blimey. When you have a small, fledgeling community in your yet-to-be-released game, you really want to not fuck them all over.

So, I fancy giving this a whirl. Apparently they are about to implement clan mechs and with that comes everyones favourite omni - Summoner/Thor.

Anyone got any referral codes?

After getting a mech boner from the HBS Battletech kickstarter, and painting a few of my own mechs, I decided to give MWO another go. It's not nearly as bad as I remember. I think at least part of that might be the larger community - I could play against similarly crap pilots rather than getting annihilated in seconds every game like before. I think there's still an amount of pay-to-win and lowbie trolling (my Dragon got charged down by a light mech and destroyed head-to-head a few games ago), but it's not been so noticeable as to spoil my fun so far. I still die most games too, but not all, so it's only as difficult as World of Tanks.

Anyway. I can't see any team (or even friend) options so I'm not pimping it particularly, but I thought I'd share.

I know. I'm reinstalling it because Steam. I suck at it, by the way.
