Chivfiddling.

Post by Dr. kitteny berk »

After the discussions of the last few chiv games, I've had a fiddle with a local chiv server.

It looks like Low grav is trivial, one line in a config, happy days.

Mods are easy enough too, you can run anything you like, but as far as I can tell, only one at a time.

Buuut, I think, with a little cunning, and performing violent hackjobs on existing mods, you could pretty much mash together the best bits of all the mods, however I suspect it'd get a little old.

So there, hyper-weird chiv is attainable. :)

Clarification an hour later:

Low grav is merely a server config line, as, incidentally, is 200% speed, so they can be set and effect the server constantly.

Everything else is a mod, which can be loaded on a per map basis, so (as far as I can tell) you could have giants on an arena, bighead on a normal pushy forwards map, lightsabres on ctf, FFA black knight mode, and so on.

Apparently there's some weird compatibility quirks with a few mods, meaning they don't work if they're both in the map cycle, for some reason.

But ultimately, the servers we have been playing on don't seem to take advantage of the potential for mental.

There's modding tutorials here, for anyone feeling more intelligent than me.
