Blood Bowl - Return of the Keys Bowl

Post by Dog Pants »

A few of us seem to be playing a spot of Blood Bowl at the moment. Anyone fancy a rolling league? If we got more than half a dozen or so I think I'd maybe have a feeder league system like RPS to keep the seasons short and allow people to easily enter/drop out/change team. Any takers?

Possibly, if I learn how to play it.

What flavour of Blood Bowl will everyone need?

Legerndary Edition or Chaos Edition will work happily with each other. I dont think the previous versions are compatible though.

Interesting thing I have just noticed: If anyone wants in but doesn't have the game, get someone who already has BB on steam to buy it for you. They do a money off thing for people who have an older version of BB and want to upgrade to the latest version, making it £6.99 rather than £19.99. Thing is, it appears that this still counts if you are buying it as a gift for someone who doesn't already have BB.

Chaos edition is quite nice too, it has a better UI and features like being able to watch live matches. Plus three extra teams. Worth seven quid as a standalone, but for me not worth it for a UI upgrade and three teams I'm not really bothered about.

Yeah, if you don't already have Blood Bowl, then it would be madness to not buy Chaos Edition. If you already have LE, CE is only worth it if Chaos Dwarves give you a mega-boner.

I wonder if seeding the leagues would be worthwhile, keeping the vets from battering everyone. Also: 5punky guide. Probably the best way to learn is to jump into a game on TS with someone who understands the rules so they can be explained as you play. The basics aren't too hard, and the weird quirky skills will be picked up as you play (which I'm still doing). I'm happy to walk people through, and if there's call for it I'll get Chaos Edition, spectate, and talk it through that way, if people would rather play someone less experienced.

Haha, nice. I used some Steam Wallet cashmoney from Christmas to buy Chaos Edition anyway, since it apparently also has a new single player mode. I now have a fresh Underworld team ready: the Armitage Shankers.

I'd be up for this. Not sure if I want to stick with the beards or go for something new or daft.

I think I'll use my existing but unused Elf team, the Silvery Sycophants, in Keys Bowl Redux.

Chaos Edition has a different flavour of bearded fellows. Otherwise, Gobbos are the daft choice of the connoisseur.

I've found Chaos Dwarves to be the hard counter to finesse teams. My word do they hurt.

I don't have Chaos (although I might regain conciousness tomorrow and find I have it) a new flavour of beard is certainly tempting.

Hobbitses are probably too daft and while fun I think I'd mostly get all my Gobbos sent off in the first play, so I might combine Beard and Daft - either just going for Sea Of Beards: as many standard Dwarves as I can afford - no Troll Slayers, or put the Lawnmower of Death into the mix maybe.

Deffrolla is pretty awesome later on, but in a starter team its just going to seriously hobble you. It's bloody expensive, especially for something that only lasts one drive.

If you wanted to try full on pants on head pencils up nose bonkers, try a skinks only lizard team, or an ogreless ogre team. It would be near pure failure, but any wins you do pull off would make you feel like a god.
