New Forum, bear with us ... (bug reports, etc)

Post by spoodie »

In reaction to the recent hack Stoat has rolled out the new forum, which will hopefully make the site less vulnerable to attack. It's not finished so don't expect everything to work quite right, but everything seems basically functional.

I guess this would be a good place to report problems and bugs you find. No design discussion here please.

Love,
The Management

Known issues:
- spoiler and strike tags don't work.
- BBcode handling & conversion of HTML code needs some work.
- News gathering isn't implemented.
- [media] tag isn't implemented. (Stoat, Presumably we can't use the BBCode editor for this as it does magic depending on the video source?)

Well done, things can only get better etc
I guess a hack provides the impetus needed to do an upgrade, and it's also spurred me to sort out my passwords as well. Just started using lastpass.com

As a side effect, have we gone back in time slightly? Not sure the db has all of the posts

I don't believe so. The posts I made just before the old forum went offline are there. But if we have lost a few they're gone, I'm afraid.

Do we know what was compromised?
Just the search page with an XSS attack, or do we think passwerdz were taken too?

When they see mine, they'll laugh pretty hard. I use the most unsafe crap password ever for 5punk. :P

Trev is missing, I assume that'll be fixed soon, as I have the trevor module ready for deployment.

Shite. Fallen prey to the "Use the same password for everything" trap. I should know better.
Well, everything apart from PayPal, I'm not that silly.

Time to get swapping them all around when I get home then, I guess.

For some reason my password on 5punk is unique and used nowhere else. Maybe I thought Stoat would sneak into the system, steal my universal password and somehow use it to order a thousand high quality hams.

Speaking of ordering, the only other place I use this password is the place where I order the pizza. It doesn't save financial data and it's bound to my address, so the worst thing the attacker can do is buy me a pizza.

God damn, this is going to take a lot of work. However it should be worth it eventually from the extra shinies I've heard are in the pippelinay. Poke me if I can help.

Goodness me, it's all shiny and Wii-U-rounded-edges like. :brains:  I initially thought we'd lost some smilies but it turns out they are now MULTIPAGINATED! If I can assist in any way (ANY way), please don't hesitate to prod!
