Re: Movie Trailers

Looks like the usual madness from Ben Wheatley, I loved A Field in England.

And I learned there's an audiobook read by Tom Hiddleston. But to watch the film before listening to that?

Re: Star Wars Despecialized Edition

I watched the first 30 minutes and it's very good. Knowing what it is I could sometimes detect the imperfections, ie. higher and lower quality sources look slightly different, but not particularly distracting. It's certainly a lot less distracting than seeing a gaggle of new unconvincing CGI creatur...

Re: Take On Mars

I did the training, what was available at least. Finished the Space Program (story mode I guess) as it only lasts about 30 mins and is just the first day. What's the best thing to do next?

It seems pretty good so far though.

Re: Decent chairs

I've got a AKRacing chair and it's the most comfortable I've had. Will probably last longer then the cheap office chairs I've had before. It looks a bit stupid but well worth the £230 in my experience.

Re: Movie Trailers

I'm not clear why this one is different from all the other fan made Star Trek works, like Star Trek Continues and Star Trek Phase II. If it's the Kickstarter, both of those other examples accept donations, so that doesn't really add up.

This was Jabba as a human (are the humans in Star Wars referred to as human?)

Re: Movie Trailers

Simon Pegg pointing out that the trailer isn't particularly representative of the movie, in terms of the amount of action. Which is reassuring.

Re: Movie Trailers

part of me is sad for the loss of the old style Star Trek. I remember when the late Next Gen films were criticised for inserting actions scenes into a series which wasn't really about action scenes. The buggy driving section at the start of Nemesis for instance. Now it's all about the action. Altho...

The first 4 episodes are available on the SyFy website, if you're in the US or can pretend you are - http://www.syfy.com/theexpanse/episodes

Re: Movie Trailers

For comedies usually there's at least some of the best jokes spoiled in the trailer. There doesn't appear to be anything funny in that trailer, which doesn't bode well.

Re: Fallout 4

I don't think either the Source or Unreal engines can render the massive open areas required for Fallout and Elder Scrolls games. Perhaps iD Tech or Frostbite engines would be able to. I imagine the developers would have to spend a lot of time learning a new engine, to make the most of it. And maybe...

I merged the Fallout 4 threads as the old one was quite fresh and not too long. However it would be a good idea to have separate threads for the big E3 titles.

Re: Movie Trailers

The book is very good, especially if you have some interest in the engineering aspects of staying alive in that situation and the main character is very entertaining. I've listened to the audiobook twice. Very much looking forward to this film, looks promising.
